Stage 2 COVID Training Process
- Teams will still need to enter via the main vehicle gate as outlined in the map below. This will be used for entry and exit.
- The facility gate will be closed for the most part and will only be opened for teams entering or leaving the facility.
- Players should look to arriving 30 minutes prior to the start of their training session. This is to give you ample time to be ready to enter the facility. Players may warm up in their own time in the grass area adjacent to the entrance area. Remembering that social distancing is still required.
- Each coach and/or manager will be responsible for the training group that they are assigned to.
- Each person that enters the facility as part of a training group needs to be recorded as part of that training group. This includes all players, coach, manager and any other designated persons assisting as part of the group.
- Each training group is to have no more than a maximum of 20 persons entering the facility for each zone (including coach – eg: 19 players and 1 coach/playing coach). Some junior teams may choose to have some additional parental assistance but this will be up to the individual team coach and the total numbers cannot exceed 20.
- Unless you are included in a training group you are to either drop off your child and leave, or you can wait in your car until training is complete. There will be no access to the toilets inside the facility so if you need to go you'll need to find a public toilet close by. Social distancing rules will still apply outside the venue.
- Players are to assemble outside of the facility in the player assembly zone at least 20 min prior to entry into the facility. Players are to come ready to train. Each player can bring a small bag if need to hold phone, keys, jumper if necessary. Players should already be in training kit, including protective equipment and stick (excluding GKs).
- 15 min prior to the training session starting, the slider gate will be opened. Coach and players are to proceed directly to the designated assembly area at the field for their training zone, using the normal path alongside the athletics track and following the direction signage. Social distancing still applies until the players are on the turf.
- Junior players will be taken to their training zone in single file.
- There are two assembly zones at the field depending on the zone the team is training in.
- Once at the turf assembly area the coach is to record each of the players present. Just a reminder that if you haven't registered on the Roosters Hockey system you need to do this ASAP. This is separate to the Hockey Qld registration. We are going to be using our online system to register and record people at training as part of our COVID registration requirements and if you haven't registered then we won't be able to register you for a training session. ie you won't be able to train.
- Once the training time for the on-field team has ended they will leave the field. The coach will direct the team waiting when they will be able to move from the assembly zone to enter the field. This will not be until the previous team has fully vacated the area.
- Players can leave personal items anywhere south of the entry gates. Water bottles should be taken onto and left next to the fence inside the field to avoid players having to leave the field once they have entered.
- All players are encouraged to sanitise their hands before entering and upon leaving the field. There will be a saintsation station at each entry/exit point.
- When leaving, the coach will do a check and make sure all items have been removed from the area at the end of the session. If anything is left behind this will be discarded. No items will be stored. As the weather is getting colder, players are encouraged to put on a jumper or something warm to avoid the chance of getting sick due to cooling down too quickly.
- Children are to be walked out of the facility in single file by their coach.
- Goal keepers should move their bags a safe distance away from the field entrance prior to removing kit and packing their bag so that this does not slow down the next team from entering the field.
- The coach is to walk their team out of the facility. The coach will record players have left the facility.
- Under no circumstances are players to move between allocated zones before, during or after their training session. If a ball enters another training zone this is not to be retrieved. The other team may hit the ball back only. They are not to pick the ball up.
- There are to be no game play drills or tackling/defensive drills. Drills can consist of hitting/trapping, passing/dribbling, shooting, etc. and are to be conducted with sufficient spacing to practice social distancing. Sharing of equipment such as balls is allowed, however the sharing of any other equipment including bibs is not permitted.
- Individual players are not to pick up or handle hockey balls at any time. The handling of hockey balls should only be done by the coach.
- Drink bottles are to be filled prior to entering the venue as taps and water fountains will be excluded to reduce touch points for spreading germs. If need be players should bring a second bottle and leave this in the car to be used prior and after training so their training bottle is full for training use.
- Any player that is to attend another session on the same night after the one just completed will need to use the cleaning station at the end of the turf to wipe down their stick prior to leaving the turf to exit the facility with the group. If you are late to your training session, you will need to wait at the gate until it is reopened for the team leaving their training session. You are to make your way immediately to your training zone.
